A sensitive approach to local context

Michael Hughes is a talented architect whose background as a construction engineer and as an artist give him a unique approach to architecture. He gained experience working for several years on residential, education and master-planning projects for private architecture firms in London, and previously worked on industrial projects for an engineering firm in southern Spain.
Since setting up his own practice in London in 2009, Michael has sought to place projects in a sensitive and thoughtful manner within the local context whilst fulfilling the design requirements of his clients. His sensitivity as an artist come through the careful detailing and insightful solutions provided to the design briefs of his clients. The practice currently has several projects underway in the UK and in Spain and works with its clients on all stages of the project, from briefing and design to project management and construction.
Michael studied architecture at the University of Greenwich (B.Arch, Part I), University of Edinburgh (M.Arch, Part II) and completed his studies at UCL's Bartlett School of Architecture (Part III) with commendation. He previously gained degrees with commendation in construction engineering and quantity surveying at the Universidad de Sevilla (Spain) and the Université de Montpellier (France).

Nicholas Hughes is a landscape architect who has over the last 8 years worked in high profile landscape design studios, and is chartered member of the Landscape Institute. Nick is involved in project documentation and project management and carries out all landscape and garden design work at MHA. Nick is also director of Terra Studio (www.terrastudio.co.uk), when design projects are solely related to landscape and garden design.
